Career Milestones

I joined my school's newspaper the first day of my freshman year of high school. I cultivated my skills as a student journalist at the Prospector for four years. I fell in love with the field because of the endless avenues to explore. Now as a managing editor for Elon News Network, I am grateful to all the opportunities I've have each day and still strive to learn and explore all I can.

2023 Green Eyeshade Awards Second Place Best News Reporter:

Awarded for a collection of my news work in the year 2022, the Green Eyeshade Awards are an annual honor recognizing the best journalism in the southeastern United States, which include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

2023 North Carolina College Media Association First Place in News Writing:

Awarded for my article "Elon University Hillel pushes to represent growing Jewish community on academic calendar," the story was recognized for significant achievement in college media and was deemed a national finalist in collegiate faith coverage.

2023 North Carolina College Media Association First Place in Feature Writing:

Awarded for my feature-profile "Get to know the overnight Elon University staff​," I spent an entire overnight shift with the staff members of our campus library. I devote the lack of sleep and shadow-method of interviewing to the piece’s recognition of significant achievement in college media.

2022 College Media Association Coverage of Faith Finalist:

Up for award at MediaFest22, My article "Elon University Hillel pushes to represent growing Jewish community on academic calendar" was deemed a national finalist in collegiate faith coverage.

2020 Illinois Journalist of the Year:

An award and competition hosted by the Journalism Education Association (JEA) where each applicant submits a portfolio of their work as a student journalist, multiple teacher recommendations, and a short, journalism-themed essay. One winner from each state goes on to compete for the national title of Journalist of the Year.

2020 NSPA Social Justice Reporting Finalist:

After submitting my Front Page Feature Disrupting injustice, exposing indifference to the Social Justice Reporting category of the National Scholastic Press Association's (NSPA) annual, national competition, it was deemed 1 of 10 finalists in the country. It received an honorable mention overall.

2019 Superior Newswriting Ranking:

Received the highest ranking at the 2019 NSPA/JEA national journalism convention writing competition. Specifically for Newswriting, each competitor sits in a live press conference and then has 4o minutes to write a breaking news story regarding the press conference. A total of 10 people earned the superior ranking in newswriting across the country, and only one other person in the state of Illinois.
